Be honest. As convenient as it is to fly to get from one place to another in a matter of hours (or less), the time you spend on a flight is inconvenient and uncomfortable.

American Airlines & Boeing have listened to their passengers’ complaints, and with the help of a psychologist and cultural anthropologist, they are redesigning the air-travel experience.

Boeing is redesigning its 737 airplane, the most popular passenger plane in the world. Wanting to make  flights more comfortable and a better experience, here are some of the changes that will be taking place in the cabins:

  • Overhead bins no longer jut out from the ceiling
  • The bins are bigger, and can hold 48 more bags on each plane
  • Sculpted sidewalls make the cabin feel larger
  • Electric plugs are under every first class seat on the jets American will fly, and two can be found under every three economy seats
  • Windows have a slightly wider view
  • Speakers are overhead rather than scattered on the ceiling, offering better sound for announcements from the cockpit
  • Seats will slide down rather than recline into the lap of the passenger behind you
  • The soft blue overhead lighting, from which the Sky Interior gets its name, changes colors
