Dozens of movies released every year are based on books, comics, and video games. Some are even successful (think the Twilight services, numerous Batman movies, and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider).
Now the company behind Angry Birds is hoping to continue to ride the success of the app-game sensation and create a movie based on the flying birds and smirking pigs.

Angry Birds had a lot of success teaming up with the film Rio, but now the company behind the game wants a film of their own.
After more than 200 million downloads, CEO Mikael Hed and Rovio Mobile are trying to prove that Angry Birds may just have the same staying-power that Star Wars toys and video games have had. A script about the background of the birds and pigs is currently being developed, focusing on the mythology behind the story of the game.
Besides working on an Angry Birds movie, Rovio Mobile is also working on more games and opening offices outside Finland to recruit more talent to bring to their gaming company.
