Wednesday would have been [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Amy Winehouse[/lastfm]’s 28th birthday. Amy’s family announced a foundation set up in her honor to help youth afflicted with addiction. Also released Wednesday was the duet Amy recorded with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Tony Bennett [/lastfm] for his upcoming album, Duets II, due out September 20th.
It was an emotional day for the Winehouse family. To honor what would have been their late daughter’s 28th birthday, they announced the creation of the Amy Winehouse Foundation. The foundation will help disadvantaged youth in the UK, USA, and elsewhere in the world who are faced with the same addiction struggles that Amy wrestled with in her life. You can get more information and donate to her foundation by going to www.amywinehousefoundation.co.uk.
Also coinciding with Amy’s birthday is the release of the single she recorded with Tony Bennett, “Body & Soul.” Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse, said that it might be awhile before he can watch it without getting emotional. In a behind the scenes interview filmed during the recording session at Abbey Road Studios, Amy revealed that it was very special to record this particular song with Tony Bennett as her father is a huge fan; it’s also his favorite song.
