Rock And Roll’s Hall Of Fame Nominees And Snubs

The nominees are in for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. 15 music artists will be voted on and whittled down to the five that will be inducted in April. So who’s on the list, and who got snubbed for the umpteenth time?

To get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, you have to be an artist who released their first album or single 25 years ago. Then you wait to be nominated, voted on, and the top 5 get inducted in the Hall of Fame in Cleveland on April 24th next year.

This year’s nominees include [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Beastie Boys[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Red Hot Chili Peppers[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Donna Summer[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Laura Nyro[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Donovan[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]War[/lastfm], all of whom were previously nominated in past years. The first time nominees to make it are [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Guns N’ Roses[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Joan Jett and the Blackhearts[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Heart[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rufus featuring Chaka Khan[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Cure[/lastfm], the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Small Faces[/lastfm] / the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Faces[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Spinners[/lastfm], blues singer [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Freddie King[/lastfm], and rap duo [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Eric B. & Rakim[/lastfm].

This was the first year of eligibility for Guns N’ Roses and Eric B. & Rakim. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Soundgarden[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Jayhawks[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Lemonheads[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]They Might Be Giants[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Matthew Sweet[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Babyface[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lyle Lovett[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Yo La Tengo[/lastfm], and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]New Kids on the Block[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Yanni[/lastfm] all became eligible this year as well, but they join the list of snubs.
