Robin Gibb Of The Bee Gees Dead At 62

After a long battle with cancer the singer of the Bee Gees died at the age of 62 according to a a statement released by his spokesperson.

“The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery,” reads the statement. “The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time.”

Gibb was found to have a secondary cancerous tumor after making what he called a “spectacular recovery” two years ago from colon and liver cancer. His most recent tumor was complicated by a case of pneumonia which saw him hospitalized.

Gibb along with his brothers Barry and Maurice formed the trio the Bee Gees and started making a name for themselves in Australia. The group had success in England in the 60’s but really hit it big in the 70’s and then became superstars with their contributions to Saturday Night Fever.

Robin’s most recent work included the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and his son Robin-John calledThe Titanic Requiem that debuted for the 100th anniversary of the ships sinking.
