Is your computer running? If you’re reading this, then you might be in the clear for the DNS Changer Malware, the virus infecting about 45,600 computers in the U.S. The virus was a part of an online advertising scam that was shut down by the FBI. It hijacked infected computers and rerouted them to malicious servers.┬áLate last year, the FBI took down the operation behind the malware but realized that shutting down the servers would shut down internet service for the infected computers.

Today is the day the FBI pulls the plug on the servers supporting those computers still infected with the DNS Changer Malware. At 12:01 EDT, the FBI is scheduled to shut off the servers. They have partnered with a private company to provide a scan for the DNS Changer Malware. You can go to dcwg.org and have your computer scanned for the malware.

Once the servers are turned off, the infected computers will no longer be able to access the internet. If your computer experiences some trouble today, contact your internet provider.
