Not only would seeing Bruce Springsteen in concert be awesome, but having Paul McCartney join him on stage to jam through classic Beatles’ hits… That would be extraordinarily, out-of-this-world awesome!

However, London concert organizers had other things in mind when the flipped the switch and cut off Springsteen and McCartney’s mics. Concert organizers for the Hard Rock Calling concert say Springsteen was scheduled to play until 10:30pm on Saturday, but The Boss had gone over his time by half an hour and was breaking a strict noise curfew.

80,000 fans were getting a real treat from Springsteen and McCartney in the form of a two-song duet of two favorite Beatles’ songs. According to the UK’s Guardian, the pair were cut-off just before they were able to thank the crowd.

E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt was none too pleased with The Boss being silenced. He took to his Twitter to unleash a few of his thoughts.

“One of the great gigs ever in my opinion. But seriously, when did England become a police state?” Van Zandt tweeted.

Hyde Park is situated near some of the richest neighborhoods in London, including being a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace.

You can see the duet with Springsteen and McCartney in the video below. The infamous cut-off occurs around the 12:11 mark where Springsteen can be seen talking in to the mic on screen but no sound is heard.
