Prior to 12 years ago, SMU was a dry campus and games were held at the Cotton Bowl. When Gerald J. Ford Stadium opened in 2000, the campus started a new tradition that takes tailgating to a new level.

It’s called “boulevarding.” Instead of choking the parking lots with tents and barbecues, the tents line the boulevard running through campus. Student groups, fraternities, sororities, alumni, and Dallas residents all purchase tent spots and set up for a truly unique game day experience. There are even concerts in front of Dallas Hall where bands perform on the steps out front.

Boulevarding isn’t just limited to the students. Any SMU fan is welcome to come join in the fun!
