If you happen to pass by the Omni Hotel in Dallas tonight and see something totally different from their light display, don’t panic. Tonight at 8PM, a video project is hijacking the Omni Hotel for “Expanded Cinema.”
“Expanded Cinema” will feature the machinations of 14 Dallas video artists, and it will cover the entire building’s wrap around light display. It will also be set to music playlists selected by the artists. The Dallas Observer has some tips on viewing tonight’s show.
In order to get the most out of the experience, you’ll want to be up high and in a location to see as much of the Omni as possible. Here are a couple of the best locations:
Empty Field off Colorado & Jefferson: Dallas Video Fest is hosting an official/unofficial viewing party. It’ll be in an empty field, which means limited parking. Fill the car with friends, lawn chairs, a radio, and head down to the party.
The Belmont Hotel, 901 Fort Worth Avenue: The view from the Belmont’s pool will be spectacular. You can enjoy the view of the Omni’s display from the pool or bar. Enjoy in style!
