It’s a sad story. Earlier this week, on two different nights, two separate groups of dogs were abandoned in Denton County. Tuesday night, 51 Maltese puppies were found wandering along Hwy 377 in Flower Mound; Wednesday night, 40 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and one Cocker Spaniel were dumped in Sanger.

As authorities rounded up the animals, it was obvious that they would be in need of some TLC. Flower Mound’s animal shelter is at capacity with the Maltese puppies. The Humane Society of North Texas in Fort Worth is caring for the spaniels, and they are asking for your help.

The Humane Society of North Texas needs volunteers to help groom and bathe the dogs. They are also in need of food donations. Volunteers must be 18-years of age or older and fill out an application and agreement. Visit HSNT.org to view their Wish List and find out how you can help.

In Flower Mound, the animal shelter is asking for food donations for dogs and cats, money, and/or Kuranda dog beds. You can contact the Flower Mound Adoption Center by calling 972-874-6390 for more information.

Both sets of dogs will be available for adoption after Sunday, and some of the best help can be giving these dogs a forever home with a loving family.
