Fort Worth is holding a gem of an art collection in its Amon Carter Museum of American Art. Amon Carter is hosting a traveling exhibit called To See as Artists See: American Art from The Phillips Collection.

When the Phillips Collection opened in Washington, D.C., it was the first museum of modern art in America. Since then, it has become distinguished for the broad range and abundance of its holdings.

A portion of the Phillips Collection has come to Fort Worth for this wonderful exhibit. 100 masterworks by 63 American artists have been on display since early October and will remain here until January 6th, 2013. The collection spans from the late 19th century through the mid-2oth century, showcasing the beginning of modernism in America and art from the post-war era.

Fort Worth is one of only three American museums to host this collection. It will travel to Tampa, FL before heading back to The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C.

Admission to the Amon Carter Museum is FREE, so you can see this grand treasure of art for no cost. The Amon Carter Museum of American Art is open from 10AM to 5PM Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays; from 10AM to 8PM on Thursdays; and from noon to 5PM on Sundays.
