Age is nothing but a number on the biological odometer, and many of us have yet to really grow up. For those of us still clinging to childhood, playing make-believe is a way to let go of the burdens of reality and pretend that our lives are completely different.
Civil War reenactments and renaissance faires are full of adults pretending to be soldiers, kings, queens, knights, lords, and ladies for a weekend before going back to being accountants, IT support, receptionists, and lawyers. While it’s still odd, it’s a little more socially acceptable.
