Five For Fighting Premieres New Single ‘What If’ Off Upcoming Fall Release

On Five For Fighting’s latest song, “What If,” John Ondrasik pontificates about what would happen if for one day, the everyone in the world switched role with someone else.

Over a mix of synths and electronic beats Ondrasik asks, “What if we could truly understand each other’s experience?” Listen to the track below.

The open-ended question leads to a few more, “Would our stereotypes and preconceptions change? Would compassion overcome insecurity and ideology?” 

Before getting to the song’s point, “What if you were me? What if I were you?” 

The song is off Five For Fighting’s as-yet-untitled sixth album, due out September 17. This is the “Superman” singer’s first release since 2009’s Slice
