As kids, all our parents had to do was turn on a sprinkler and let us run around. There were also those slip ‘n’ slides that had the whole neighborhood lined up to slide down the short runway of water on a tarp. A recent trip to Target revealed that slip ‘n’ slides have gone crazy, and that had us remembering how we used to beat the heat.
Tony brought up ice blocking. Find a place that sells huge blocks of ice, throw a towel on it, and ride it down a big, grassy hill.
John says that at a Jimmy Buffet concert, he and some friends made a giant slip ‘n’ slide for grown ups. They laid down giant tarps and threw some 5-gal. buckets of water on them.
Julie is completely resistant. We’re going to have to plot to get her on a slip ‘n’ slide.
