I really debated on whether to post this or not because I didn’t want it to come off as self fulfilling. But I wanted to share why Kidd Kraddick was such a mentor to me and so many others. He was always so supportive of me even when he didn’t agree with some of the choices I made in my career.

He gave me advice when working with him. He advised me when I lived in LA and even when I moved back to Dallas. While it had been a few years since I spoke to him I would think of him and his advice often. This letter meant the world to me way back then and even more so now. I know he was supportive of so many of you in your career just like he was me.

It was an honor to have known him and see his amazing talent first hand. He was simply the best!

Here is his letter (Click To Enlarge, Full Text Below):

Since writing farewell letters seems to be the order of the day, here’s mine. I want you to know how great it’s been working with you all these years. We seem to have some cosmic connection that has kept us together over the years. From you filling in mid-days at the Eagle, to you getting the midday job for your own and following us in the morning, to being out of work together, to getting back together at KISS, it’s like fate couldn’t keep us apart!

This sounds old and stodgy (but I’m getting old and stodgy)…It’s been a real pleasure watching you grow as a radio personality and as a person over the last several years. I can remember tuning in the frightened little Kansas girl in the middle of the night…wondering if she had even figured out that she had made it to the big-time. To see you turn into one of the best radio personalities in the country (notice I didn’t say “female radio personalities”) has been a great experience for me. In fact, you got so good so fast, it’s like I woke up one morning and you were suddenly great. It wouldn’t have happened without a ton of hard work on your part, and you should be really proud of yourself.

you should also take pride in this secision you’re making. I know it’s not an easy one. It takes a lot of courage to give up something good in the hopes of finding something better. I’m pulling for you. So without tetting too sappy, I just want to tell you to take pride in what you’ve already accomplished. you’ve come a tremendous distance. But I think you’ve still got a few miles to go. I’ll be watching.
