Sally Colburn, 70, was cooking dinner when she reached into an almost empty 10-pound bag of potatoes. What she pulled out surprised her: a heart-shaped potato.
Huff Post reports that the recently widowed Colburn believes the “Potato of Love” is a sign from her husband of 50 years, Jack. Colburn’s husband passed away in May after losing his battle with lung cancer.
Colburn says, “He was from Alabama. He was raised on potatoes.”
The love potato made Colburn smile, but now she’s in a quandry as to what she should do with the love spud. A friend suggested shellacking it to preserve it in perpetuity, but Colburn doesn’t know where she would place the preserved potato.
