Most Often Misquoted Movie Lines

There are classic movie lines that are a part of our collective cultural consciousness. Somewhere along the way, they have become distorted from the actual quote.

Here are a few of the most misquoted movie lines, according to NBC News, and the actual lines from the movies:

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
Misquoted Line: “Luke, I am your father.”
Real Line: “No. I am your father.”

The Wizard of Oz
Misquoted Line: “I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore.”
Real Line: “Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”

Dirty Harry
Misquoted Line: “Do you feel lucky, punk?”
Real Line: “Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?”

Field of Dreams
Misquoted Line: “If you build it, they will come.”
Real Line: “If you build it, he will come.”

Snow White
Misquoted Line: “Mirror, Mirror, on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all?”
Real Line: “Magic Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?”

A Few Good Men
Misquoted Line: “You want the truth? You can’t handle the truth!”
Real Line: Jack Nicholson: “You want answers?” Tom Cruise: “I want the truth!” Jack Nicholson “You can’t handle the truth!”

Julie mentioned that the ruby slippers that Judy Garland wore in the Wizard of Oz were on the huge side. It’s hard to tell from this picture, but we think she’s right.
