Reese Kirkham & The Super 6’s Mission To Wipe Out Kid’s Cancer

There are awesome kids and then there are the kids who do awesome things. It’s the awesome kids doing awesome things that should be recognized. This morning, we tip our hats to an awesome 10-year-old who is rallying her school and community to help wipe out children’s cancer!

Reese Kirkham was inspired to organize a community project with her friends after her friend Lauren Scott was diagnosed with cancer. Reese believes that kids should spend their time outside playing rather than being cooped up in bed sick, so The Super 6 was formed. She got in touch with Children’s Medical Center who introduced her to Evelyn Costolo, the CEO of Wipe Out Kid’s Cancer. The Super 6 started arranging to have boxes put in area businesses to gather toiletries for Buddy Bags to give cancer patients when they are admitted to Children’s Medical Center.

More than that, Reese’s awesome ambition inspired her to meet with her principal this week to organize her school’s involvement. Her principal agreed to have a 2 week donation drive in October for the Buddy Bags, to have a year-long slideshow presentation on the school’s TV raising awareness to childhood cancer, and to endorse activities with The Super 6 and WOKC over the school’s daily announcements.

Reese and The Super 6 are currently involved in the WOKC Oktoberfest Run for the Children as a part of Oktoberfest this weekend! You can register to run, walk, or support The Super 6’s team by CLICKING HERE. You can keep up with The Super 6 through their Facebook page.
