Yesterday, Producer John shared with us in the studio that his 9 year old daughter was recently given an iPhone by her mother for her birthday. This brought up the question: How young is too young to have a cell phone?
We’re having some mixed feelings. On one hand, it’s a good way for John and his daughter to keep in touch, and she can have games at her fingers to keep her occupied. On the other hand, Julie raised the concern that not only will John’s daughter have access to social media, but people on social media will have access to her.
Tony mentioned an app called Stealthgenie that gives parents the ability to covertly monitor what their children are doing on their cell phones. WatchOver is another great iPhone app to keep an eye on kid’s cell phone activities.
What do you think? Is there a good age for a kid to have a cell phone?
