For 100 years, the South Side On Lamar building has stood over the Cedars South Side neighborhood in the shadow of downtown Dallas. On Saturday, October 19th, the Lamar Street Festival will celebrate the centennial of the building originally known as the Sears, Roebuck & Co. building.
The Lamar Street Festival will feature an interactive art zone, family friendly activities, 80 visual artist, food trucks, local restaurants, local craft beers, live music from artists like Erykah Badu, and an amazing short film competition.
The short film competition will feature videos that must be taken during the festival, include a shot of the festival, and be 60-90 seconds in length. The theme for the competition is Then & Now. You can shoot it and edit it all on your smart phone or any platform. The winner will get a 12-month lease at the South Side On Lamar lofts.
The Lamar Street Festival is October 19th from 12PM to 10PM. Admission is $5. There will be in & out privileges between 12PM and 7PM, but after 7PM, you’ll have to buy a ticket to get back in. Parking is $10, but it’s a quick walk from DART’s Cedars station if you take the Red or Blue lines. You can find more information if you visit lamarstreetfestival.com.
