We have received 100s upon 100s of nominations for Santa’s Sparkle. From those nominations, we have chosen 5 families who have met with undue hardship this year to bless with an awesome Christmas at our Santa’s Sparkle event on Friday, December 20th, at the Hilton Anatole.
This morning, we heard Leslie Perry nomination, the Rodriguez family. Leslie writes:
I recently got a new student in the first grade class I teach in DISD. He had apparently gone to our school before but had moved to Austin at some point. I was taken aside and told that he had lost his mother and baby brother in the floods in Austin in October. The siblings are all scattered through Dallas, and I believe the father is still currently in Austin. My student is staying with his grandfather. They are trying to get all the siblings in one place. I teach in a low income area of Dallas and could easily nominate least 3 of my students’ families. I nominated this family because having lost my mom 3 years ago and my dad in May, I know firsthand how awful that first Christmas is without them.
The young boy Santiago, 6, and his 3 older brothers are now all living with his maternal grandparents, Jose and Susanna. We gave Grandpa Jose a call this morning to surprise his family with a Santa’s Sparkle Christmas at the Anatole!
There is still time for you to make a tax-deductible donation to Santa’s Sparkle! We’ll be at the Hilton Anatole on Friday, December 20th to honor recipient families selected to enjoy Christmas At The Anatole and Sparkle, dine at one of the Anatole’s restaurants, receive spa treatments, and spend the night in a suite. Go to SantasSparkle.org to donate and find out more information!
