When Biggest Loser winner Rachel Frederickson weighed in at 105 pounds on the show’s Tuesday night series finale, fans and judges alike were stunned. Plunging from 260 pounds to just shy of 100, Rachel managed to lose nearly 60 percent of her original body weight in less than a year. “I feel great”, said Frederickson to reporters over a conference call (US Weekly), “I’ve officially found that proud confident girl I lost”.
Rachel, who in her words was a former “national level swimmer”, went on to add that she’d be doing yoga to maintain her new figure, although critics of the show found her drastic weight loss to be the real stretch, taking to social media to voice their disapproval.
In a culture seemingly obsessed with being thin, is Rachel Frederickson an example of fitness and determination, or does her recent metamorphosis merely reinforce the misconstrued perception of the “ideal physical form” as written by Pop Culture?
