Tonight was awesome. I got to check out one of the most prolific recording artists of our day, Lady Gaga, in all her glory at American Airlines Center.
The first thing I noticed when I took my seats was how incredible the staging was. The traditional end stage was accented with several catwalks and auxiliary stages with automated lifts and props while the band members (yes, the music is live) each have their own little nook in the “igloo-esque” set at the back of the stage.
The show was everything you would expect, a mash up of all of her biggest hits including Just Dance, Alejandro, Edge Of Glory, Bad Romance, Poker Face, Paparazzi, and the anthem of our generation, Born This Way. The latter brought me tears as “Mother Monster” delivered a sermon of sorts with a message of love and acceptance of all people, regardless of age, sex, race, religion and in her own words, “I am not even going to mention sexuality, because that is some old bull s***. What year is it anyway?”
The almost sold-out crowd in the American Airlines Center hung on the diva’s every word, both sung and spoken, and Gaga didn’t miss a beat. The artRAVE contained all of the trademark elements of a Lady Gaga concert, and with the star at the helm in full vocal force, this show promises to continue selling out worldwide. Bravo Gaga. Bravo!
