Potter Fans To Find Fantastic Beasts
Harry Potter scribe JK Rowling has officially completed work on the script for the franchise’s spinoff film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, according to ScreenRant. David Yates, who directed the final four installments in the Harry Potter film franchise, is slated to head up the new project. Set seventy years before the first book, Fantastic Beasts will follow Newt Scamander, author of several Hogwarts schoolbooks on an adventure that is already prepped to become a trilogy. Maybe the working title should be “Fantastic Franchises and How to Milk Them.”
Halftime Commercials Get Full Time Airing
There are plenty of people who feel that ads are by far the best part of the Superbowl Experience, expressing that opinion to the dismay of football fanatics everywhere. For those less sporty souls, however, Deadline has good news: CBS will continue their annual countdown of the greatest superbowl ads in 2015. The special is slated for January 26, with Boomer Esiason and Katharine McPhee hosting. Their job is incredibly important: helping us distinguish between the ads and the ads we’re trying to watch.
Area Restaurants Offer Thanksgiving Fix
For most of us, Thanksgiving is a day of relaxation, poor dietary decisions and loving family. For some, however, it is merely another day in the grind toward survival. Three Dallas-area restaurants took it upon themselves to offer relief to such individuals, no questions asked, this Thanksgiving. Anyone in attendance at Norma’s Cafe, the Slow Bone or La Popular Tamale House last Thursday was treated to a free meal in celebration of the holiday. More Cell Phone Bans in DFW
The Star Telegram reports that the city of Bedford has updated laws regulating cell phone use while driving. It is now a Class C Misdemeanor to operate any messaging or internet service in the driver’s seat of a car. The decision makes Bedford the third city with an expanded set of laws regarding cellular devices, with Grand Prarie and Arlington already passing similar edicts. Bad news for multi-taskers in the DFW suburbs; great win for legislators and fans of Demi Lovato’s #X campaign.
Internet Trolls FTW
Sometimes I wonder if the comments section of any given internet page marks the death of civilization. Other times, I want to stand up and applaud it. We may be moving closer to an answer. According to Deadline, Joel McHale will produce a new show dedicated to the snarky things people say in response to other people saying snarky things in response to someone’s hard work. Comedian Michael Kosta will host the show, which has so far only been picked up for a pilot episode. Maybe if you leave a clever enough comment below, you can be featured in the premiere!
