Netflix and Hulu Users In California Could Be Taxed For Streaming UsageStarting January 1, 2017, the city of Pasadena, California will begin to tax people that stream their television content from services like Netflix and Hulu. The city finance department decided to put a 9.4 percent tax on "video services". And apparently the city won't be the only one doing so. Forty-five other cities in the state have also been advised that they could do the same as well. Some of those cities included are San Bernardino, Santa Monica, and Glendale; MuniServices the company that collects taxes for those municipalities say their rates on video services range from 4.5 to 11 percent.
